A Blameless Life
By Nigel Collyer © Nigel Collyer 2017

So here I am with a little surprise
Out of sight, some place you'll never find
I know that it's worth a lot to some
And the story I tell is a very strange one.

But you notice things that appear suspect
Every little corner, every single aspect
I remain so cool, I show no fear
With my smiley little face I grin from ear to ear.

Will you help me out, will you aid my case
My children they are young in a faraway place
You've got me pacing down a one way street
You see my shaky little hands and my twitchy little feet.

I come looking for a man in Finsbury Park
But I gotta be there a'fore it gets too dark
I gotta be on the road by three o'clock
To the address on a ticket in my sock.

So up in town looking for the hotel
The name is Fred, I'll be here for a spell
I'm a-ringing the number cos it's getting late
The voicemail says you're in the USA.

Well it's a blameless life
I've always led
It's a blameless life
I've always led a blameless life, oh yeah.
